Underground FLX Kiteboards underground flx

Underground have improved the carve from heel to toe in the direction change, as they weren’t happy with the skatey feel in the middle of the turn.

The Underground FLX surfboards hold really well in the carve, so they figured the difference might be in the bottom layout.

The kiteboards were single concave while the surfboards run from single to double concave. This double concave forms a spine in the centre of the board. Underground tried a double concave, and they were so much better! The carve held really solid, landings are softer and the boards track beautifully landing from those powered kiteloop moves.

Underground refined the double concave as they realized it was more the spine than the double concave that everyone liked. The regular double concave felt quite draggy and slow compared to the existing single. The refined Underground FLX design has a double parabolic concave with rail flats.

The bottom maintains the proven single concave with rail flats but with the additional benefits created by the spine which runs down the centerline.

Underground FLX

Performance advantages of the new board are;

  • Smoother in chop, smoother ride overall
  • less spray in the face
  • Nicer for landing powered moves
  • way better for waveriding and carving on flat water
  • better edging, more control

The graphics have been produced by Jacques Mulder who designed the graphics on the boards for last season's boards. Jacques lives in Dubai and came across to New Zealand to design this years boards and to go riding with us. He has designed them with a scary fish theme. It was great fun to have him here and watch him create the new designs. Colours are designed on high visibility for easy recovery after crashes.

We have kept the sizes pretty much the same except for the 122 which is now 122 x 37 cm, 1 cm wider than last season.
We are also offering the 152 in a 44cm wide lightwind version and 42 std.

Our FLX construction combines high density linear PVC foam core materials with a durable PBT top and base sheets, hand shaped ABS rails and stylish sublimated graphics.

Tailored thickness flow and flex patterns give a comfortable ride without compromising our wide powerful outline curve that provides “pop” and upwind performance.

Unidirectional Carbon reinforced laminates provide the optimal balance between strength, weight, flex and twist control.

Rail shapes are hand finished with a thicker more tucked rail in the mid section of the board to help soften the ride through chop. Rails at the tips feature a thinner, harder edge to provide tracking stability and a solid edge hold through carves.

FLX Boards are supplied standard with:

  • Integrated stainless steel inserts
  • Adjustable footstraps
  • removable bolt down contoured footpads
  • EVA covered grab handle
  • 50mm G10 fins
  • Stainless steel hardware
  • Adhesive EVA grab bar
